How do I prepare my quilt for a long-arm quilter?

Quilt Top: Clip your threads - front and back (especially if you have a light fabric that dark threads will show through). Consider stitching ⅛” from the quilt edge if you have many seams which can open up or if edges are cut on the bias (quilt on point). Close any open seams. Press your quilt top - Use steam and hang to avoid creases if possible. Mark top of quilt.

Quilt Batting: I can provide standard 80/20 batting for $10.00 / yard. Otherwise provide batting 3” larger than the quilt top on each side.

Quilt Backing: Please provide backing fabric at least 4” bigger than the quilt top on all sides. Additional charge to piece backing. Press your quilt backing - Use steam and hang to avoid creases if possible. Mark top of backing.

What quilt design should I choose?

If your fabric has a theme we can choose a complimentary design. OR You can look at designs online. OR We can brainstorm when you bring the quilt to me.

Where do I drop off my quilt?

Address: 911 Chatham Drive, NSL, UT 84054. I am located close to I-215, Redwood Road, and Legacy Highway. In Davis County, very close to the Salt Lake County border. Easy to reach from any direction.

When can I drop off my quilt?

Please contact me to make an appointment. I can accommodate most schedules.

How much does it cost?

Quilting: Current E2E rate is $0.02 / square inch plus batting and any other additional charges. Thread is included at no additional cost. Minimum charge: $50.00 on small projects.

Here is a simple example to calculate the size / cost of your quilt: If your quilt top measures 70” x 80” multiply 70 x 80 = 5600 square inches. Multiply 5600 inches by .020 = $112.00.

Custom quilting rates are negotiated prior to start of project.

Batting: Winline Comfort Blend (80% cotton / 20% polyester) $10.00 / yard.

Binding: Customer supplied (joined end to end on a diagonal, fold in half and press. Roll on a tube (ie: toilet paper tube)). Machine Binding $60.00 flat charge.

Specialties: Quilts with a Minky backing will add $.005/ square inch to cover the additional labor. If you choose a small quilting design, we will add $.005/ square inch for increase quilting density. Masking is available for $5.00 per mask.

Should I provide a quilt label?

It’s a great idea, your choice. (Check online and YouTube for ideas). It’s easiest sewn into the binding after quilting is complete. Additional $5.00 charge.
